The Approach
The engineering team focused on constructing the vehicle through the body in white (BIW) stage, utilising advanced materials and innovative design techniques. Carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) was chosen for the body due to its strength-to-weight ratio, commonly used in aerospace and automotive applications. Rigorous testing, including CAE simulations and physical assessments, was employed to ensure the prototype met stringent criteria for crashworthiness, NVH and durability.
Project Objective
Extensive research studies were conducted to design and develop a lightweight hypercar, including occupant packaging, powertrain layout, and load path definitions. The goal was to create a vehicle that exceeded JLR’s expectations for lightweight construction while maintaining structural integrity and performance standards.

Benefits
The completed design surpassed all chassis & weight targets, achieving remarkable weight reductions while maintaining structural integrity and performance targets.
The chassis stiffness desired by JLR was measured three ways – torsion, bending and suspension stiffness.
